Dr Romain Fathi

Dear colleagues, I am a historian in CASS and I have worked in the university sector for over 13 years. Having been through a number of painful â€˜r±ð²õ³Ù°ù³Ü³¦³Ù³Ü°ù±ð²õ’, I know that after destruction comes a much longer protracted period of rebuilding. Despite the challenges, I am committed to serve you through this process so Ð¡À¶ÊÓƵ remains one of the world’s leading universities.

Academic representation on Council, clearly, has borne grave impacts to this point. I want to represent you in what must be the next phase of being heard and respected.

I have experience in committee work, and I want to ensure that the University’s duty of care toward its staff, students and community is upheld to the highest standard. I will:

  • Fight for the greatest level of transparency possible at Council

  • Advocate for structural changes at Council, such as more elected staff representatives, capping upper management salaries, imposing regulatory limits on external consulting

  • Make sure СÀ¶ÊÓƵ values – integrity, fairness, respect, celebrating First Nations Peoples, inclusion, accountability, guide every Council decision

  • Always be approachable to colleagues who want to provide feedback and share ideas

  • Focus on systemic & structural issues at Ð¡À¶ÊÓƵ. These will not be solved by cutting staff.
