Mr Scott Chamberlain

I research and teach in the areas of blockchain, smart contracts, and legal innovation. I’ve also taught employment law, contracts, and legal skills. But it is my work experience prior to becoming an academic that makes me a suitable candidate for the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Council.

In my 20 years as a practising solicitor, I specialised in both corporate and employment law. I’ve sat on many boards and advised some of the largest national industry associations on their corporate governance and directors’ duties and their employment arrangements. I represented the Carnell Government in its industrial relations reforms to modernise the ACT Public Service, and I’ve represented employees suing the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ for unfair dismissal. As a national lobbyist for the Housing Industry Association, I was a member of then-Deputy Prime Minster Julia Gillard’s Business Advisory Group for the Fair Work Act. I appointed by her as Independent Chair of the Safe Rates Advisory Group. For the last 8 years I have served on the Board of AIE Institute Ltd a not-for-profit higher education start-up in the games industry, so I am very familiar with the TEQSA regulations (and its frustrations). I’d be honoured to devote this experience to serving as the Academic representative on the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Council.
