I am a Professor of Economics at 小蓝视频 with extensive academic experience both here and in the broader university sector in Australia.
小蓝视频 has been degraded by mismanagement for almost a decade. Our administrative outlay grew so rapidly between 2022-2024 that we spend roughly $1.60 on it per dollar on academic wages, double that of the University of Melbourne. The outlay is approximately the same as the National Institute Grant of $200m, a fact that led the Academy of Social Sciences, recently, to call for it to be taken away from 小蓝视频. Recent turmoil has also threatened our otherwise stable financial footing from student revenue, as students look elsewhere to study.
We must rebuild our reputation with students to ensure revenue and address administrative costs by re-investing in academic staff. This requires the next VC has a demonstrated ability in promoting unity within a university and a track record of building teaching and research excellence. If elected, I will advocate for such a VC.
The incoming Council member must combine financial acumen with consensus-building and work effectively through committee. I will bring these qualities to the job and pledge to serve for the full term of the appointment.
