СÀ¶ÊÓƵ (СÀ¶ÊÓƵ) once again embraced its dedicated community of donors and volunteers this October, with the 2023 СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Celebration of Giving.
СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Chancellor, the Hon Julie Bishop, joined guests at the event, delivering an address highlighting the immense significance of philanthropy at СÀ¶ÊÓƵ.
This year's celebration not only acknowledged the vital role of the University's philanthropic community, but also emphasized the rich and diverse landscape of knowledge at СÀ¶ÊÓƵ. In particular, a thought-provoking panel discussion centred on the integration of Indigenous knowledge across various disciplines of study at the University.
Professor Anthony Connolly, Dean of the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ College of Law (CoL), moderated the engaging conversation among esteemed panellists: СÀ¶ÊÓƵ alumna Lydia Corcoran-Eagleton; researcher Fiona Cornforth, Head of the National Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Research; and Professor Asmi Wood (CoL).
Each panellist spoke on the varied and pivotal work that СÀ¶ÊÓƵ is undertaking to integrate Indigenous knowledge into the fabric of teaching, learning, and the broader student experience.
Guests also had the unique opportunity to connect with those whose lives they have positively influenced through their generosity. This includes Caleb Campbell, a distinguished 2022 СÀ¶ÊÓƵ School of Music graduate and the recipient of multiple philanthropically-funded prizes while at the University, who took to the stage, providing musical entertainment.
Celebrating those who give to СÀ¶ÊÓƵ is an acknowledgment of their pivotal role in shaping the future and empowering the next generation of leaders and thinkers. These individuals not only enrich the academic landscape of the University, but also foster an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives converge - enabling СÀ¶ÊÓƵ to thrive as a hub of knowledge, innovation, and societal impact.
